UP: Reshuffle in Police Administration expected soon

There are speculations about the transfer of IPS officers in Uttar Pradesh as sources report that the government intends to reshuffle the police administration.

According to sources, IPS officers of the 2017 batch will be given commands in the districts, as well as more than two dozen recently promoted state police officers. Currently, these officers are serving as Additional Superintendents of Police. In addition to this, 11 officers are currently waiting. In this, the number of ADG rank officers is 4.

It is expected that half a dozen district captains will be replaced. It includes 4 districts of western Uttar Pradesh. In these districts, three districts are located in the Meerut zone, while one district is located in the Bareilly zone. As well, new captains will be sent to two Gorakhpur zone districts.

UP: Eight IAS officers shifted; Mahendra Singh posted as Special Secretary, Home

The Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday (19.11.2022) issued transfer and posting orders for eight IAS officers.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows :

  1. Mahendra Singh (IAS): Special Secretary, Home Department.
  2. Renu Tiwari (IAS:2012:UP): Additional Commissioner Rural Development and Additional Commissioner MNREGA.
  3. Shesh Nath (IAS:2012:UP): Special Secretary, Sugar Industry and Sugarcane Development Department.
  4. Arun Prakash (IAS:2012:UP): Special Secretary, MSME & Export Promotion Department with additional charge of CEO, Khadi and Village Industries Board.
  5. Yogesh Kumar (IAS): Special Secretary, Agriculture Production Commissioner Branch.
  6. T K Shibu (IAS:2012:UP): Additional Land Management Commissioner, Revenue Board.
  7. Sunil Kumar Verma (IAS:2013:UP): Special Secretary, Agriculture Production Commissioner Branch.
  8. Anurag Patel (IAS:2009:UP): Special Secretary, Revenue Department and Additional Commissioner, Consolidation.

Delhi HC rejects West Bengal govt.’s petition against inter-cadre transfer of IAS officer

The Delhi High Court has ruled in favor of an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the West Bengal cadre, who wishes to transfer to Bihar due to his marriage to an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Bihar cadre. The West Bengal government’s appeal against the Central Administrative Tribunal’s decision to issue a no objection certificate (NOC) to the IAS officer was dismissed by a bench of Justices Sanjeev Sachdeva and Tushar Rao Gedela.

During the past two years, the High Court has passed similar directions to the West Bengal government to relieve officers of the State cadre so that their spouses can join them in other State cadres. In the present case, an IAS officer from West Bengal cadre got married in 2020 to an IPS officer from Bihar cadre. In June 2021, he applied to the West Bengal government for an inter-cadre transfer from West Bengal to Bihar.

The central government subsequently sought no objections from West Bengal and Bihar to the officer’s request. The Bihar government approved the application in June 2021, but the West Bengal government rejected it. The West Bengal government argued before the tribunal that the request for inter-cadre transfer had not been processed due to a shortage of IAS officers in the State.

UP: Senior IAS officer Suresh Chandra seeks VRS

One more UP cadre IAS officer, Suresh Chandra (IAS: 1989: UP), Additional Chief Secretary, Labour Department, has applied for VRS. After being appointed Vice Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission, he was expected to take charge next month, but instead sought VRS. Chandra is set to retire in January 2023.

Over the past three months or so, five IAS officers have sought VRS – Sreenivasulu (2005:UP), Vidya Bhushan (2008:UP), Renuka Kumar (87:UP), Juthika Patankar (88:UP), Vikas Gothawal (2003:UP). VRS has already been approved for Renuka Kumar.

West Bengal: 13 IAS officers (2021 batch) appointed as Assistant Magistrates & Assistant Collectors in Districts

The West Bengal government has issued posting orders for 13 IAS Probationers of the 2021 batch as Assistant Magistrates & Assistant Collectors for district training.

Retired IAS Officer Arun Goel Appointed New Election Commissioner

The Modi government on Saturday (19.11.2022) appointed Retd. IAS officer Arun Goel (IAS:1985:PB) as Election Commissioner in the Election Commission of India with effect from the date he assumes the office. Goel will join Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioner Anup Chandra Pandey in the poll panel.

The government made the announcement a day after Goel took voluntary retirement from his role as the Heavy Industries Secretary. Arun Goel retired as Heavy Industries secretary on November 18. The IAS officer took voluntary retirement six weeks before he was scheduled to retire officially. He was to retire on December 31, 2022 after completing 60 years of age.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Saturday (19.11.2022) effected a major bureaucratic reshuffle at the level of Additional Secretary, including one in the rank of Special Secretary (GoI).

Govt appoints 10 Executive Directors in 8 Public Sector Banks

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Saturday (19.11.2022) approved ten appointments of Executive Directors at Public Sector Banks, the government said in a release. All appointments are likely to come into effect from the date of assumption of office.

  1. Lalit Tyagi has been appointed as the Executive Director of Bank of Baroda for a period of three years. Presently, he is serving as Chief General Manager of Bank of Baroda.
  2. Binod Kumar has been appointed as the Executive Director of Punjab National Bank for a period of three years. Presently, he is serving as Chief General Manager of Punjab National Bank.
  3. Ashok Chandra has been appointed as the Executive Director of Canara Bank for a period of three years. Presently, he is serving as Chief General Manager of Union Bank of India.
  4. Ramasubramanian has been appointed as the Executive Director of Union Bank of India for a period of three years. Presently, he is serving as Chief General Manager of Canara Bank.
  5. Mahesh Kumar Bajaj has been appointed as the Executive Director of Indian Bank with effect from the date of assumption of office and up to the date of his attaining the age of superannuation (i.e. 30.06.2025).
  6. M Paramasivam has been appointed as the Executive Director of Punjab National Bank for a period of three years. Presently, he is serving as Chief General Manager of Canara Bank.
