UP committee finds nothing actionable against most IAS

A review committee has been constituted by Uttar Pradesh government for the purpose of evaluating the records of 42 IAS officers. On November 28, the committee cleared 38 officers, as it found no major ‘actionable’ against them. However, the rest four have been asked to fill the entries, as their records were found incomplete. Once the committee gets the complete entries in the records of four IAS officers, it will meet again to consider their cases.

The group of 42 IAS officers were from two groups: those that completed 15 years of service and those that completed 25 years of service. This committee is only a recommendatory body. The final decision will be taken by the state government.

OP Galhotra appointed new DGP of Rajasthan

The Rajasthan government appointed 1985-batch IPS officer O P Galhotra as the new director general of police. He was posted as the Additional DG of armed battalions earlier and was appointed as the DGP following Ajit Singh’s retirement today.

Galhotra has served as a joint director, DIG and also as the SP in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), inspector general (IG)-rules, IG-railways, IG-Jaipur and as a superintendent of police in Bharatpur, Jodhpur, Chittorgarh and Dholpur.

B N Sharma appointed Chairman, NAA

Badri Narain Sharma(IAS:85:RJ), has been appointed as Chairman of the National Anti-Profiteering Authority (NAA). He was earlier serving as Additional Secretary in the Department of Revenue.

 

Three IAS officers transferred in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh Goverment has transferred three IAS officers.

Deepak Trivedi(IAS:1985:UP) has been transferred from Excise Department to Principal Secretary,Appointment.

Kalpana Awasthi (IAS:1990:UP) has been made Principal Secretary in Excise Department.

Safhakat kamal (IAS:2006:UP)  has been made Staff Officer to Chief Secretary.

Ratna Prabha is Karnataka’s new chief secretary

The Karnataka government appointed senior woman IAS officer K Ratna Prabha as the new chief secretary.Ratna Prabha, a 1981-batch IAS officer, is currently the seniormost in Karnataka and will have a tenure of four months.

She will succeed Subhash Chandra Khuntia,whose trem ends on November 30.

FIR against 5 DoPT officials

The CBI has registered an FIR against five officials of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on charge of siphoning off government funds. The investigation agency searched 11 premises belonging to the accused after the registration of the FIR. The department’s under secretary Sanjay Mehta, section officers Hemant and Vijay Pal and assistant section officers Mahendra Singh and RK Arora have been named as accused in the FIR.

According to the CBI, the five officials were booked after a complaint from DoPT Director (Training) V.K. Sinha on September 9 that Mehta, Arora, and Hemant had siphoned off government funds through fraudulent sanction orders.

The department had already suspended the tainted officers following an internal inquiry.

Jharkhand government trasferred 23 IPS officers.

Jharkhand governmnet on November 27, 2017, transferred 23 IPS officers of Jharkhand cadre. They included two DIGs and more than 12 SPs.

Nagendra Chowdhry, DIG, Jungle (forest) Warfare, Netarhat, has been transferred and made DIG, Railways, Ranchi, while Ranjit Kumar Prasad, DIG, Special Information Bureau, Ranchi, has been given the additional charge of DIG, Jungle Warfare, Netarhat.

Major reshuffle in Secretary-level posts in NaMo administration

Raghvendra Singh, (IAS:1983:WB) appointed as Secretary, Ministry of Culture. Currently he serves as Director General, National Archives.

Upendra Prasad Singh (IAS:1985:OP) appointed as Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation.

Upendra Prasad singh will replace Amarjit Singh (IAS:1982:GJ) on 30.11.2017.

Singh will continue hold additional charge of CEO, National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG).

Ajay Kumar (IAS:1985:KL) appointed as Secretary, Department of Defence Production. Currently he serves as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeiTY).

Kerala’s Collector Prasanth Nair appointed as private secretary to Tourism Minister KJ Alphons

Prasanth Nair, 2007 batch IAS officer of Kerala cadre has been appointed as Private Secretary to the Minister of State(I/C) for Tourism & Minister of State for Electronics & IT, K. J. Alphons in the Ministry of Tourism at the level of Deputy Secretary.

The officer had earned public acclaim and commanded massive social media following when he kickstarted a slew of popular initiatives after he took charge as the collector of Kozhikode.

Programmes like Operation Sulaimani, a decentralized participatory project to address hunger in urban areas, Tere Mere Beach Mein, a project to tackle waste management at Kozhikode Beach, and Yo Appooppa, an attempt to improve the quality of life of the elderly, were runaway successes.

The ‘Collector Kozhikode’ Facebook page, that Nair himself handled during his term, was flooded with compliments and praise for the young IAS officer. Nair’s call for public participation for small tasks like cleaning a dirty pond would elicit a huge response. He soon earned the nickname of ‘Collector Bro’.

Dr. D K Bhalla Secretary, Lok Sabha Seretariat prematurely repatriated to parent cadre

Dr. D K Bhalla, the 1986 batch IAS officer who is presently posted as Secretary, Lok Sabha Secretariat, has been prematurely repatriated to his cadre state of Nagaland with immediate effect.
