The suspended IAS officer, Prasanth N (IAS:2007:KL), is reported to be contemplating to take legal recourse against the suspension order as he believes that he has done nothing wrong. He was suspended for venting his ire against Additional Chief Secretary A Jayathilak (IAS:1991:KL) through social media. He told reporters that he would initiate legal action after receiving the suspension order.
He was suspended after the chief secretary’s report highlighted the ongoing feud between Jayathilak and Prasanth. Jayathilak is said to have reported on Peasant’s lapses and Prasanth took to social media posts to vent his ire against Jayathilak, accusing him of ruining the careers of subordinates for not following his dictates.
Prasanth had also announced to have turned into a whistleblower and threatened to expose Jayathilak.
The government found Prasanth’s outburst as grave indiscipline saying such remarks have the potential of creating divisiveness and disaffection among the IAS officers in the state that can also affect service to the public. The government found his remarks highly objectionable as it amounted to undermining the public image of the bureaucratic machinery in the state. Prasanth, on the other hand, is planning to approach the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) as he divulged in his conversation with reporters that he is aware of many Supreme Court verdicts on the procedures to be followed in such cases.
