Ajit Kumar Panda assumes charge as CMD of CONCOR

Ajit Kumar Panda has assumed charge as CMD of CONCOR, succeeding Sanjay Swarup. His tenure will continue till August 31, 2028.

New Delhi: Ajit Kumar Panda on Saturday (August 01, 2026) assumed charge as Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR).

He will remain in the post till his superannuation on August 31, 2028.

The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) had recommended his name for the post on April 18, 2026, after interviewing eight candidates. The government later approved his appointment.

Panda succeeds Sanjay Swarup, who retired on July 31, 2026. Swarup had been serving as CMD since October 1, 2023.

Before taking over as CMD, Panda was Director (Projects & Services) in CONCOR.

A 1990-batch Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME) officer, Panda has more than three decades of experience in railway operations, logistics, infrastructure development and project management.

Before joining the CONCOR Board in December 2022, Panda held several important assignments in Indian Railways.

He served as Executive Director in Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), Director (Production Units, Efficiency & Research) in the Railway Board and Chief Workshop Manager in East Coast Railway. He also served on the boards of several railway joint venture companies.

As Director (Projects & Services), Panda oversaw the development of Multi Modal Logistics Parks. He also handled procurement of rolling stock, containers and cargo handling equipment. Besides this, he led several technology and business development initiatives.

Panda is a two-time recipient of the Railway Minister’s National Award for Outstanding Service.
