The Supreme Court of India has instructed the Union Govt. to expedite the process for appointing judicial and expert members of the National Green Tribunal ( NGT). There are a total 15 vacant posts in the NGT, out of which, 9 for judicial members and 6 of expert members. A bench comprising Justices AM Khanwilkar, Dinesh Maheshwari and Sanjiv Khanna, asked the selection committee to further expedite the processes, as notifications in the regard has already been released.
The top court observation came on the petition filed by NGT Bar Association and the matter is listed for further hearing in the third week of September,2020.
