Kesavan Ramachandran appointed as Executive Director of RBI

Kesavan Ramachandran takes over as Executive Director of RBI, will handle Department of Regulation (Prudential Regulation Division).

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Tuesday (July 1, 2025) appointed Kesavan Ramachandran as Executive Director (ED), effective the same day. In his new role, he will oversee the Department of Regulation (Prudential Regulation Division).

Before his elevation as Executive Director, Ramachandran was serving as Principal Chief General Manager in the Risk Monitoring Department.

With over three decades of experience, he has worked in various areas including currency management, supervision of banks and non-banking entities, training, and administration. He has also served as Principal of the Reserve Bank Staff College.

During his career, Ramachandran was RBI’s nominee on the Board of Canara Bank for more than five years and was part of the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for two years.

An MBA in Banking and Finance, he also holds a diploma in International Financial Reporting from ACCA, UK, and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF).
