Mahesh Muralidhar Pai, currently serving as Chief General Manager at Canara Bank, has been appointed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO) of South Indian Bank.
According to a stock exchange filing by South Indian Bank, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) approved his appointment through a letter dated July 7, 2026.
Pai will assume charge as MD & CEO on October 1, 2026, for a three-year term. He will succeed PR Seshadri, whose tenure ends on September 30, 2026.
Following the RBI’s approval, Pai has tendered his resignation from Canara Bank, where he was heading Digital Banking and Innovation as Chief General Manager.
The bank will place his appointment before its Board of Directors at the meeting scheduled for July 16, 2026.
