S Jeyanthi selected as Director (Production), ITI Limited

S Jeyanthi has been selected for the post of Director (Production), ITI Limited at a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) meeting held on February 08, 2023. Presently, she is working as General Manager, ITI Limited.

She will be appointed to the post of Director (Production) after receiving vigilance clearances and an approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.

The following 06 applicants were interviewed in the selection meeting :

Amit Garg appointed as Additional Director of SVPNPA, Hyderabad

Amit Garg (IPS:1993:AP) has been appointed as Additional Director, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), Hyderabad for a period of two years. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday (08.02.2023), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs to appoint Mr. Garg to the post for a period of two years from the date of assumption of charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Presently. he is serving as Joint Director, SVPNPA, Hyderabad.

Sanjay Upreti gets extension as Financial Advisor, BSF

The central deputation tenure of Sanjay Upreti (IRAS:1990) as Financial Advisor (JS level), Border Security Force (BSF) has been extended for period of two years. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday (08.02.2023), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs to extend the deputation tenure of Mr. Upreti for a period of two years beyond 31.01.2023 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Vasudha Mishra re-employed as Secretary, UPSC

Vasudha Mishra (IAS:1987:TG) has been re-employed as Secretary of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for a period of one year. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday (08.02.2023), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the re-employment of Ms. Mishra to the post for a period of one year beyond the date of her superannuation (28.02.2023) i.e. from March 01, 2023, to February 29, 2024 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

SC Collegium recommends appointment of Justice Sabina as Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh HC

The Supreme Court Collegium on Tuesday (07.02.2023) recommended the appointment of Justice Sabina as the Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court. Presently, she is the Acting Chief Justice of that High Court.

In a statement released on the Supreme Court website, the Collegium stated that two other senior judges, Justices Jaswant Singh and Rajesh Bindal, who hail from Punjab and Haryana High Courts, have already been recommended for appointments to Tripura High Court and Supreme Court, respectively.

Justice Sabina was appointed as a High Court judge on March 12, 2008 and will retire on April 19, 2023. Her parent High Court is the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Given Justice Sabina’s seniority, the Collegium recommended her appointment as Chief Justice of the High Court of Himachal Pradesh “as she is fit and suitable in all respects for the same.”

SC Collegium recommends appointment of Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh as Chief Justice of Tripura HC

The Supreme Court Collegium on Tuesday (07.02.2023) recommended the appointment of Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh as Chief Justice of Tripura High Court following the retirement of Justice Jaswant Singh.

The Collegium had recommended on January 25 the appointment of Justice Jaswant Singh, currently a judge at the Orissa High Court, as Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court. Since he will be retiring on February 22, the Collegium recommended Aparesh Kumar Singh’s appointment.

The collegium in September 2022, had already recommended the transfer of Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh to the Tripura High Court. He is currently the acting Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court.

The resolution explained that the State of Jharkhand is unrepresented among High Court Chief Justices, which led to the recommendation of Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh.

SC Collegium recalls recommendation to appoint Justice K Vinod Chandran as Gauhati HC Chief Justice; instead recommends him as Patna HC Chief Justice

The Supreme Court Collegium on Tuesday (07.02.2023) recalled its recommendation of December 2022 to appoint Justice K Vinod Chandran as the Chief Justice (CJ) of the Gauhati High Court. Instead, he has now been recommended for elevation as Chief Justice of the Patna High Court.

Upon elevation of Justice Sanjay Karol, the former Chief Justice of Patna High Court, to the Supreme Court, the Collegium took the decision to fill the vacant post of Chief Justice of Patna High Court.

Justice Chandran is the senior-most Judge of the Kerala High Court. On November 8, 2011, he was sworn in as an additional judge of the Kerala High Court. On June 24, 2013, he became a permanent judge and will retire on April 24, 2025.

The Collegium also recommended the appointment of Justice Sandeep Mehta, senior-most judge of the Rajasthan High Court, as Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court through a separate notification.

SC Collegium recommends appointment of Justice Sandeep Mehta as Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court

The Supreme Court Collegium on Tuesday (07.02.2023) recommended the appointment of Justice Sandeep Mehta of Rajasthan High Court as the Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court.

Justice Mehta was appointed as a judge in Rajasthan High Court on May 30, 2011 and is due to retire on January 10, 2025.

Justice K Vinod Chandran had previously been appointed Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court by the Collegium. Justice Chandran, however, was instead recommended for appointment as Chief Justice of Patna High Court via a separate resolution. Therefore, the Collegium recommends Justice Mehta’s appointment, finding him suitable and fit.

Telangana: Seven IPS officers shifted, S Ranga Reddy posted as SP, PCS&S

In yet another reshuffle in police administration, the Telangana government on Tuesday (07.02.2023) transferred seven IPS officers including five non-cade ones across the state.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows:

  1. S Ranga Reddy (IPS:2009:TG), who is waiting for a posting, is posted as SP, Police Computer Services & Standardisation (PCS&S).
  2. Yogesh Goutam (IPS:2018:TG), Assistant SP, Greyhounds is transferred and posted as DCP(Admin), Cyberabad.
  3. R Venkateswarlu, SP (NC), who is waiting for posting, is posted as SP, CID, Hyderabad.
  4. J Raghavendar Reddy, SP (NC), who is waiting for posting, is posted as SP (Admin), Railways.
  5. I Pooja, SP (NC) is posted as Principal, Police Training College, Warangal.
  6. C Satish, SP (NC), who is waiting for posting is posted as SP, Legal, Hyderabad.
  7. D Muralidhar, SP (NC), who is waiting for posting is posted as DCP, Crimes, Warangal.

UP: IAS officer Abhishek Singh suspended

The Uttar Pradesh government has suspended IAS officer Abhishek Singh (IAS:2011:UP) for dereliction in duty. Singh has not reported back to the state government since being removed from Gujarat election duty in November last year which is a violation of service rules.

He was barred from election duty by the Election Commission of India (ECI) for sharing his photo on social media during the Gujarat Assembly election. The ECI had “taken a very serious view” of the officer’s Instagram post. He was ordered to leave the constituency immediately and report to his parent cadre. Presently, he was awaiting posting orders.
