UP: Major restructuring in police administration, 32 IPS officers shifted

In a major reshuffle in police administration of state, the Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday (18.03.2025) issued transferred orders for 32 IPS officers across the state.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows;

  1. L V Antony Dev Kumar (IPS:1994:UP), ADGP, CB-CID, Lucknow, has been transferred and posted as ADGP, Rules, Lucknow.
  2. Atul Sharma (IPS:2009:UP), DIG, awaiting posting orders in DGP office, Lucknow, has been transferred and posted as DIG, PAC Branch, Kanpur.
  3. Shailendra Kumar Rai (IPS:2015:UP), SP, Law & Order, Lucknow, has been transferred and posted as SP, Public Grievances, DGP Office, Lucknow.
  4. Devendra Kumar (IPS:2021:UP), Assistant SP, Bareilly, has been transferred and posted as Additional SP, City, Shahjahanpur.
  5. Ayush Srivastava (IPS:2021:UP), Assistant SP, Jaunpur, has been transferred and posted as Additional SP, City, Jaunpur.

Arman Farooq inducted in CBI as SP

Arman Farooq, a 2008-batch officer of the Jammu & Kashmir Police Service, has been appointed as Superintendent of Police (SP) in the Central Investigation Bureau (CBI) for four years. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (17.03.2025), the competent authority has approved the induction of Mr Farooq in the CBI for a period of four years from the date of assumption of charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

IPS Vineet Brijlal appointed IG in CRPF

IPS officer Vineet Brijlal (IPS:2001:AP) has been appointed as Inspector General (IG) in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) for five years. According to an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Monday (17.03.2025), the competent authority has approved the appointment of Mr Lal to the post on deputation basis for a period of five years from the date of assumption of charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Currently, he is serving in the cadre state Andhra Pradesh as IGP, CID.

IPS Chhaya Sharma appointed IG/Director, BPR&D

IPS officer Chhaya Sharma (IPS:1999:AGMUT) has been appointed as Inspector General/Director in the Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D) for five years. According to an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Monday (17.03.2025), the competent authority has approved the appointment of Ms Sharma to the post on deputation basis for a period of five years from the date of assumption of charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Chhaya Sharma is currently serving in Delhi Police as Special CP, Training Division, with additional charge of SPUWAC & SPUNER.

SC seeks Centre’s response on PIL challenging CAG appointment process

The Supreme Court on Monday (17.03.2025) issued a notice to the central government, seeking its response to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) challenging the appointment process of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG).

The petition, filed by the Centre for Public Interest Litigation (CPIL) against the Union of India, has brought the selection of the country’s top auditing authority under judicial scrutiny. It argues that the CAG, entrusted with auditing government expenditures to ensure accountability and transparency, should be appointed by an independent selection committee comprising the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition, and the Chief Justice of India.

The court has asked the government to file its response to the plea.

SSB IG Nayyar Hasnain Khan returns to parent cadre

In a significant move, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Monday (17.03.2025) prematurely repatriated senior IPS officer Nayyar Hasnain Khan (IPS:1996:BH) to his parent Bihar cadre. He is currently serving as Inspector General (IG) in the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

According to an order issued by the MHA, the competent authority approved his premature repatriation following a request from the Bihar government.

Khan was appointed as IG in the SSB in September 2024 for a tenure of five years. However, his early return to the Bihar cadre suggests that a significant assignment may be awaiting him in the state.

Rajesh Kumar T appointed Director in MHA

Rajesh Kumar T (ICoAS:2016), who was recommended for central deputation by the Department of Expenditure, has been selected for appointment as Director in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Delhi, for four years.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (17.03.2025), Mr. Kumar will serve in the post under the central staffing scheme for a period of four years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Manish Srivastava appointed Director in MHA

Manish Srivastava (IOFS:2009), who was recommended for central deputation by the Department of Defence Production, has been selected for appointment as Director in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Delhi, for five years.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (17.03.2025), Mr.Srivastava will serve in the post under the central staffing scheme for a period of five years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Abhay Kumar Behuria selected as Director (Finance), NALCO

Abhay Kumar Behuria has been selected for appointment as Director (Finance), National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) at a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) meeting held on March 17, 2025. Presently, he is serving as Executive Director (Finance and Accounts), Steel Authority Of India Limited (SAIL).

He will be appointed to the post of Director (Finance) after receiving vigilance clearances and approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
