New Delhi: Retired IAS officer Giridhar Aramane (IAS:1988:AP) has been appointed as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Unitech Limited for a fixed tenure of two years from August 25, 2026.
The appointment follows the Supreme Court’s order dated August 17, 2026, and the subsequent order issued by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on August 19, 2026. The move comes as part of the restructuring of the management of the court-monitored real estate company.
Aramane’s appointment comes after the tenure of Yudhvir Singh Malik (Retd. IAS:1983:HY), the previous CMD of Unitech, ended on July 20, 2026.
A 1988-batch IAS officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre, Aramane served as Defence Secretary from November 1, 2022, until his retirement on October 31, 2024.
During his career, he held several important assignments, including positions in the Cabinet Secretariat, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority. In the Andhra Pradesh government, he served as Principal Secretary, Urban Development, and Secretary, Finance Department.
