The Uttar Pradesh Government has promoted 28 Provincial Police Service (PPS) officers to the Indian Police Service (IPS) and directed them to continue at their present places of posting until further orders.

The MHA notification had included 29 names, with Sanjay Kumar Yadav placed at Serial No. 1. However, his appointment to the IPS cadre was kept provisional, subject to the final outcome of pending disciplinary proceedings. Consequently, the Uttar Pradesh Government’s promotion order covers 28 officers, excluding Sanjay Kumar Yadav.
The 2025 Select List comprises officers from different PPS batches, including two officers from the 1997 batch, one from the 1998 batch, 15 from the 1999 batch and 10 from the 2000 batch.
