This is good news for state service officers in Madhya Pradesh, as the state government has reportedly decided to promote 13 officers from the State Administrative Service (SAS) to the IAS cadre and 9 officers from the State Police Service (SPS) to the IPS cadre this year.
Official sources point out that the promotions are part of routine cadre restructuring and aim to strengthen administrative efficiency at the state level of governance.
The Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) will be evaluating officers on the basis of their service records, annual confidential reports (ACRs), and performance evaluations. The date of the DPC meeting is to be finalised soon, after which eligible officers will be formally considered for promotion.
A joint committee comprising representatives from the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), the Chief Secretary, and the DGP will conduct the selection process.
Besides, as per official sources, a total of 39 names for promotion to the IAS and 27 names for induction into the IPS are under consideration of the state govt.
These promotions are to take place against vacancies created in 2025 due to the retirements of promoted IAS and IPS officers.
As per reports, officers from the 2007 and 2008 SAS batches will be reviewed for promotion to IAS cadre.
The key names under consideration include the following:
- Minisha Pandey
- Ila Tiwari
- Neeta Rathore
- Shailendra Singh Solanki
- Rani Pasi
- Ranjana Deora
- Madhavi Nagendra
- Varsha Solanki
- Priyanka Goyal
- Abhishek Dubey
- Nirottam Prasad Bhargava
- Nidhi Singh Rajput
- Nimisha Jaiswal
- Sandeep Soni
In total, 39 officers will be evaluated.
However, certain officers may face problems: Jayendra Vijayvat and Manoj Malviya (1999 batch) are ineligible due to age limits; Kamal Nagar (2002 batch) is facing a court case, which may delay consideration; and Sapna M. Lovenchi (2007 batch) potentially being excluded due to an ongoing vigilance inquiry
For promotion to the IPS cadre, officers from the 1997 and 1998 SPS batches are being considered. According to sources, the process for IPS promotion is progressing faster than IAS selection.
A total of 27 names have been shortlisted. A few of them include the following:
- Chetan Singh
- Amrit Meena
- Nimisha Pandey
- Rajesh Mishra
- Malay Jain
- Amit Saxena
- Manisha Soni
- Suman Gurjar
- Sandeep Mishra
- Sabyasachi Sarraf
- Samar Verma
- Satyendra Singh Tomar
Among them, a couple of officers may face difficulties, like Amrit Meena facing scrutiny over caste certificate verification and Rajesh Mishra is under departmental investigation. Such cases may be kept in sealed cover (“closed envelope”) during DPC proceedings.
Once the DPC meeting is held and recommendations are finalized, the list will be sent to state authorities and the UPSC for approval.
The final promotion list will determine entry of officers into India’s top administrative and police services, filling vacancies created in the 2025 cadre cycle.
