Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Radha Raturi (IAS:1988:UK) has made it mandatory for the secretary-level officers to be present in all the review meetings called by her. She is said to have got upset after many Secretary-level officers absented themselves at important review meetings she held recently. It prompted her to issue clear instructions to the secretaries saying strict action would be taken against those found absent at all important review meetings in future.

Needless to point out here that there has been a tendency among the secretary-level officers to send either additional secretaries or other subordinate officers of their departments concerned to attend different review meetings chaired by her recently.

She got upset after finding the absence of secretary-level officers at the meeting of the Technical Review Committee held on November 18 despite the fact that she was chairing the meeting. The Chief Secretary immediately summoned all secretaries and reprimanded those who were absent. It finally led her to issue formal instructions making their presence in review meetings compulsory in future.
