Somnath Ghosh appointed India’s High Commissioner to Malaysia

Senior diplomat Somnath Ghosh (IFS: 1997) was on Wednesday (July 1, 2026) appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to Malaysia. He is currently serving as Consul General, Consulate General of India, Chicago and is expected to take up the assignment shortly.

In a statement, the MEA said “Shri Somnath Ghosh (IFS: 1997), presently Consul General, Consulate General of India, Chicago, has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to Malaysia”.

“He is expected to take up the assignment shortly,” the statement added.
