Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Sunday (November 1, 2026) assigned the additional charge of Chief Secretary to senior IAS officer Shailendra Kumar (IAS:1995:AGMUT), pending the joining of Dr Sajjan Singh Yadav (IAS:1995:AGMUT), who was appointed to the post by the Centre last month.
According to Government Order, Shailendra Kumar, Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), Finance Department, will look after the charge of Chief Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir, until Dr Yadav joins the Union Territory.
Shailendra Kumar is also holding the additional charge of Administrative Secretary, Agriculture Production Department.
The Centre had appointed Dr Sajjan Singh Yadav as the next Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir on October 24, 2026. The appointment was to take effect from November 1, following the retirement of incumbent Atal Dulloo on October 31, 2026. However, Dr Yadav could not assume charge on November 1.
