The Supreme Court Collegium on Wednesday (24.04.2024) recommended that Justice Rakesh Mohan Pandey, Additional Judge be appointed as a Permanent Judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court. The Collegium also recommended that Justice Sachin Singh Rajput and Justice Radhakishan Agrawal be appointed as Additional Judges of the Chhattisgarh High Court for a new term of one year.

In November last year, the Chhattisgarh High Court Collegium forwarded its unanimous recommendations for appointing Additional Judge Justice Rakesh Mohan Pandey as a Permanent Judge, and for extending the terms of Justices Sachin Singh Rajput and Radhakishan Agrawal.

The Supreme Court Collegium said that it consulted with other judges of the Supreme Court who are familiar with the Chhattisgarh High Court, as per the Memorandum of Procedure, to assess their suitability. A committee of two Supreme Court judges, formed by the Chief Justice of India, also evaluated the judgments of these Additional Judges.

After scrutinizing and evaluating all relevant information, the Supreme Court Collegium found that Justice Pandey was fit and suitable to be appointed as a permanent judge. It also recommended that Justices Rajput and Agrawal be appointed as Additional Judges for a new one-year term, effective from May 16, 2024, and August 2, 2024, respectively.
