Government clears appointments, 13 high courts get new CJs

The Central government on Saturday (09.10.2021) notified the appointments of eight and transfer of five chief justices of high courts.

Following judges have been appointed as Chief Justices of 8 different high courts:

1. Justice Rajesh Bindal has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court. Presently, he is serving as the Acting Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court.
2. Justice Ranjit V. More has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court. Presently, he is a Judge of the Meghalaya High Court.
3. Justice Satish Chandra Sharma has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court. Presently, he is serving as the Acting Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court.
4. Justice Prakash Srivastava has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court. Presently, he is a Judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
5. Justice R.V. Malimath has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court . Presently, he is serving as the Acting Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court.
6. Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court. Presently, he is a Judge at the Lucknow Bench of of the Allahabad High Court.
7. Justice Aravind Kumar has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court. Presently, he is a Judge of the Karnataka High Court.
8. Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court. Presently, he is serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court.

The Following Chief Justices have been transferred to 5 different High Courts

1. Justice Akil Kureshi has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court. Presently, he is serving as the Chief Justice of Tripura High Court.
2. Justice Indrajit Mahanty has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court. Presently, he is serving as the Chief Justice of Rajasthan.
3. Justice Mohammad Rafiq has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court. Presently, he is serving as the Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court.
4. Justice Biswanath Somadder has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court. Presently, he is the Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court.
5. Justice A.K. Goswami has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court. Presently, he is the Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court.
