FSIB recommends names for MD posts of Bank of Baroda, Bank of India

The Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) on Saturday (14.01.2023) recommended names for the posts of Managing Directors of Bank of Baroda and Bank of India. The Bureau has recommended the name of Debadatta Chand for the position of MD & CEO in Bank of Baroda and Rajneesh Karnatak for MD & CEO in Bank of India.

The headhunter for state-owned banks and financial institutions interviewed 13 candidates for the position of MD & CEO in Bank of Baroda and 12 candidates for the position of MD & CEO in Bank of India on January 14, 2023.

The final decision on the recommendation of FSIB would be taken by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

FSIB Recommends Rashmi Raman Singh as CMD of OICL

Rashmi Raman Singh has been recommended by the Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) to take over as Chairman and Managing Director of Oriental Insurance Company Ltd (OICL). Singh is the Oriental Insurance Company’s Director and General Manager at the moment.

The headhunter for state-owned banks and financial institutions selected CMD for OICL after interviewing 5 shortlisted candidates on January 17, 2023.

The final decision on the recommendation of FSIB would be taken by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Gujarat: ACS Home Raj Kumar is frontrunner for Chief Secretary post

As per top sources, Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar (IAS:1986:GJ), whose term expires in January, is unlikely to get an extension and ACS Home Raj Kumar (IAS:1987:GJ) is likely to succeed him.

Senior most official of the state government Vipul Mitra (IAS:1986:GJ) will retire this year and hence will lose out on a chance to become the CS. Other senior officers, Union Pharma Secretary S Aparna (IAS:1988:GJ) and Union MSME Secretary B B Swain (IAS:1988:GJ), are also set to retire this year.

Pankaj Kumar was given an eight-month extension in May 2022. He took up the charge of CS after Anil Mukim’s extended tenure ended in August 2021. Before that, Pankaj Kumar held the post of Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Home Department. After Pankaj Kumar’s promotion as CS, Raj Kumar was made ACS Home. Raj Kumar was on central deputation before being repatriated to the state in 2021. He was sent to the Centre in April 2015 and his last posting was Secretary Defence Production. Raj Kumar was given the charge of Industries department in Gujarat after ACS Rajiv Kumar retired in May 2022.

Praveen Sharma appointed as Director, National Health Authority

Praveen Sharma (IDES:2005), who was recommended for central deputation by the Ministry of Defence, has been selected for appointment as Director in the National Health Authority (Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission) under M/o Health & Family Welfare for a period of five years. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (19.01.2023), the central government has approved the appointment of Mr. Sharma to the post under the central staffing scheme for a period of five years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

The post of Pankaj Kumar Singh (CWES:2008) as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Textiles has been re-designated as Director. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (19.01.2023), the competent authority has approved the proposal to re-designate Mr. Singh as Director with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the re-designated post and for a period up to 04.03.2024 i.e. total tenure of five years under the central staffing scheme.

Vishnukanth PB re-designated as Director, Department of Economic Affairs

The post of Vishnukanth PB (IA&AS:2009) as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs has been re-designated as Director. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (19.01.2023), the competent authority has approved the proposal to re-designate Mr. Vishnukanth as Director with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the re-designated post and for a period up to 26.09.2026 i.e. total tenure of five years under the central staffing scheme.

Telangana: A Santhi Kumari is new Chief Secretary

The Telangana government on January 11 appointed A. Santhi Kumari (IAS:1989:TG) as Chief Secretary of state. Kumari is the first woman to hold the post in Telangana since the bifurcation in 2014 but she has mostly served in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh.

Kumari replaced Somesh Kumar (IAS:1989:TG) who was asked to report to Andhra Pradesh by the central government’s Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). The order came following a Telangana High Court order setting aside the Central Administrative Tribunal’s order allocating Kumar to the Telangana cadre.

Somesh Kumar’s tenure as Chief Secretary was to end in December 2023.

As per Telangana’s General Administration Department data, Kumari was the senior-most officer in line for the post after Somesh Kumar. Prior to this, she was serving as Special Chief Secretary for Environment and Forest Sciences.

Some of her previous postings also include Principal Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office from 2015 to 2018, and with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for two years. In erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, she served in the Tribal Welfare Department and the Rural and Social Welfare Department.

She also served as Collector of Medak district, now in Telangana, and Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district.
