Ashish Choudhary (IPS:2003:PB), DIG, National Investigation Agency (NIA), has been appointed IG, NIA. According to an order issued by the Ministry Home Affairs, the competent authority approved the appointment of Mr. Choudhary to the post against vacancy arising with effect from 22.01.2023 vice Nitish Kumar (IPS:1999:AGMUT).

Punjab: Senior IAS officer Ajoy Sharma shifted out of Health & Taxation Department
The Punjab government on Friday (20.01.2023) transferred senior IAS officer Ajoy Sharma (IAS:1999:PB) out of both the departments he was holding. He was Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare and Financial Commissioner, Taxation. He has not been given any posting yet.
As reported by Indian Express, the refusal to allow spending on the publicity of mohalla clinics cost Ajoy Sharma dearly. In two different meetings, Sharma was asked to allow spending of Rs 30 crore on publicity from the health budget. He is however learned to have refused to sanction the amount stating that the department had already spent Rs 10 crore for setting up mohalla clinics. Therefore, he would not be able to justify spending another Rs 30 crore for publicising the scheme in states like Tamil Nadu.
According to the report, he refused to budge and said he would not do this. And so, he was transferred out of both departments by the end of the day. The government issued transfer orders late in the evening.

Haryana govt recommends 7 IPS officers for central deputation
The Haryana government has recommended central deputation of seven IPS officers after obtaining vigilance clearance from the Director General of State Vigilance Bureau (SVB).
The officer are;

- OP Narwal (IPS:2006:HY), DIG, Law and Order
- Kuldeep Singh (IPS:2007:HY), DIG, Vigilance Bureau
- Sulochana Gajraj (IPS:2003:HY), SP, State Crime Bureau
- Rajesh Duggal (IPS:2010:HY), SP, Palwal
- Abhishek Jorwal (IPS:2011:HY), ADC, Governor
- Rajender Kumar Meena (IPS:2011:HY), SP, IT
The state government recently communicated to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs for consideration of these names to fill up the vacant posts on central deputation. The state government recently submitted these names for consideration by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to fill vacant positions on central deputation. The Vigilance Bureau has also informed the state police that no inquiry is pending against five more IPS officers – Alok Kumar Roy (IPS:1991:HY), SK Jain (IPS:1991:HY), Dr. CS Rao (IPS:1995:HY), Charu Bali (IPS:1995:HY) and Maneesh Chaudhary (IPS:2005:HY).
Five IPS officers from Haryana cadre are already on central deputation. They include former state police chief Manoj Yadava who (IPS:1988:HY) is currently Director General, National Human Rights Commission. Among other IPS officers, Sibash Kabiraj (IPS:1999:HY) is looking after the responsibility of Regional Passport Officer (RPO) in the Union Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). KV Ramana (RAW), Ashwin (CBI) and Manisha Chaudhary (Chandigarh SSP) are also on central deputation.
DGP conference: PM Modi suggests making police more sensitive
Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the 57th All-India Conference of Director Generals/ Inspector Generals of Police on 21st and 22nd January in New Delhi.
The Prime Minister suggested training police officers in emerging technologies and making them more sensitive. In order to improve data exchange across agencies, he pointed out the importance of the National Data Governance Framework. In addition to leveraging technological solutions like biometrics, etc., the Prime Minister suggested we need to strengthen traditional policing mechanisms like foot patrols. He advocated repealing obsolete criminal laws and establishing standards for police organizations nationwide. In order to improve jail management, he recommended prison reforms. Furthermore, he suggested that officials should visit frequently at the border and at the coast to strengthen border and coastal security.
In order to leverage capabilities and share best practices, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of enhanced collaboration between state police and central agencies. In order to address emerging challenges and evolve best practices among their teams, he suggested replicating the DGPs / IGPs Conference model at the state and district levels.
The Conference was concluded after Prime Minister distributed Police Medals for Distinguished Services.
The Conference covered various aspects of policing and national security, including Counter Terrorism, Counter Insurgency and Cyber Security. Union Home Minister, Ministers for State for Home, National Security Advisor, Union Home Secretary, DGPs/IGPs of States/UTs and Heads of the Central Police Organisations/Central Armed Police Forces were also present at the Conference. Around 600 more officers of various levels attended the Conference virtually from States/UTs.
29 IRS-IT officers empanelled as Principal Chief Commissioner
The Modi government on Sunday cleared the empanelment of 29 IRS-IT officers (1989 batch) for holding Principal Chief Commissioner level post in the Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax) for the panel year 2023. Of twenty-nine officers, twelve are on the extended panel.
