Centre clears appointment of five SC Judges

The names of five judges for the Supreme Court were cleared by the Centre on Saturday, nearly two months after they were recommended.

Names of five appointed judges:

  1. Justice Pankaj Mithal, Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court
  2. Justice Sanjay Karol, Chief Justice of Patna High Court
  3. Justice P. V. Sanjay Kumar, Chief Justice of Manipur High Court
  4. Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah, Judge, Patna High Court
  5. Justice Manoj Misra, Judge, Allahabad High Court

The judges are likely to take oath on Monday and the strength of the apex court will rise to 32 judges. Their names were recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium on December 13 last year. Presently, the apex court is functioning with 27 judges, including the Chief Justice of India.

Two more names remain to be cleared by the Centre after which the Supreme Court could function with its full capacity of 34 judges. On January 31, the Supreme Court collegium had recommended two more names for elevation as top court judges — Allahabad High Court Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal and Gujarat High Court Chief Justice Aravind Kumar.

Rajasthan: Three IPS officers shifted

The Rajasthan government has issued transfer and posting orders for three IPS officers.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows:

  1. S Sengathir (IPS:1997:RJ): ADGP, Intelligence.
  2. Gyan Chandra Yadav (IPS): SP, Chief Minister Security, Jaipur.
  3. Karan Sharma (IPS): DCP, Crime and Vigilance, Police Commissionerate, Jaipur.

Goa: Three IAS and One IPS officer shifted

The Goa government has issued transfer and posting orders for three IAS and one IPS officer.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows:

  1. Sneha S Gitte (IAS:2019:AGMUT): Special Secretary, Home and Personnel.
  2. Asvin Chandru A (IAS:2019:AGMUT): Collector, South Goa.
  3. Jyoti Kumari (IAS:2018:AGMUT): Chief Executive Officer, Entertainment Society of Goa.
  4. Shiven Bhushan (IPS:2019:AGMUT): SP, ANC with additional charge of SP, Cyber Crime.

Anurag Agrawal appointed as IG, CRPF

Anurag Agrawal (IPS:1998:AM) has been appointed as Inspector General (IG) in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) for a period of five years. According to an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday (02.02.2023), the competent authority has approved the appointment of Mr. Agrawal to the post for a period of five years on deputation basis from the date of assumption of the charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Sandeep Khirwar appointed as IG, CRPF

Sandeep Khirwar (IPS:1995:HY) has been appointed as Inspector General (IG) in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) for a period of five years. According to an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday (02.02.2023), the competent authority has approved the appointment of Mr. Khairwar to the post for a period of five years on deputation basis from the date of assumption of the charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Umesh Singh appointed as MD & CEO, CERSAI

Umesh Kumar Singh, General Manager, Central Bank of India, has been designated to the post of Central Registrar, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer (MD& CEO), in the Central Registry of Securitisation Asset Reconstruction and Security Interest of India (CERSAI). According to an order issued by the Department of Financial Services, Mr. Singh has been appointed to the post for a period of three years w.e.f. the date of assumption of charge of the post, or till he attains the age of 60 years, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

M Jagannath and Tablesh Pandey recommended for post of MDs at LIC

The Financial Services Institutions Bureau on 30 January recommended M Jagannath and Tablesh Pandey for the vacancies of Managing Director (MD) positions in Life Insurance Corporation (LIC).

On January 31, Raj Kumar, the seniormost MD, retired after a year’s extension. B C Patnaik’s term as MD ends on March 31. Jagannath and Pandey are likely to succeed Kumar and Patnaik, respectively.

LIC Chairman M R Kumar’s current term ends in March. Kumar, who was appointed in 2019, had received an extension this year ahead of the insurance behemoth’s initial public offering.

The Madhya Pradesh government on Thursday (02.02.2023) issued transfer and posting orders for two IAS officers.

  1. Sanskriti Jain (IAS:2015:MP), Additional Collector, Satna has been transferred and posted as Commissioner, Rewa Municipal Corporation.
