New Delhi: Manipur cadre senior IAS officer Vivek Kumar Dewangen (IAS:1993:MN) has been appointed as Secretary in the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Saturday (September 5, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved his appointment to the post from the date of assumption of charge until his superannuation on April 30, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Dewangen will hold the rank and pay of the Additional Secretary level, with the post being temporarily downgraded to the Additional Secretary level for the purpose of his appointment.
Currently, Dewangen is serving in his parent cadre of Manipur as Additional Chief Secretary (Tribal Affairs & Hills), Government of Manipur.
At present, Sudhansh Pant (IAS:1991:RJ), Secretary, Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, is holding the additional charge of the NCSC following the retirement of Gudey Srinivas (IAS:1990:OR) on August 31, 2026.
