The Manipur government on Saturday (May 30, 2026) appointed Mukesh Singh (IPS:1996:AGMUT) as the Director General of Police (DGP), Manipur, and Head of the Police Force following his inter-cadre deputation from the AGMUT cadre to the Manipur cadre.
According to an official order, Singh will assume charge as the DGP of Manipur with effect fromJune 1, 2026.
Alongside the appointment of the new police chief, the state government also carried out a reshuffle of senior IPS officers.
Ashutosh Kumar Sinha (IPS:1993:MN) has been transferred and posted as Chairman and Managing Director of MANIDCO. He will also hold the additional charge of Director of Inquiry, Manipur Lokayukta.
Lupheng Kailun (IPS:1994:MN), who was serving as Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order), has been transferred and posted as Managing Director of MPHC Ltd. in his existing grade pay.
Lhari Dorjee Lhatoo (IPS:1999:MN) has been transferred and posted as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) in charge of Armed Police, Modernization, Intelligence and Law & Order.
