N Prasanth (IAS:2007:KL) on Tuesday (June 30, 2026) carried out a veiled attack on former Kerala Chief Secretary A Jayathilak (IAS:1991:KL) through a social media post shared on the day the senior IAS officer retired from service.
Prasanth did not mention Jayathilak by name. But the timing of the post and its contents were widely seen as aimed at the outgoing Chief Secretary.
“Power is temporary,” Prasanth wrote. He said many people in high office forget this. They think they are indispensable until they are “thrown away like an old file.”
Referring to Poonthanam’s Jnanappana, the Bhagavad Gita and the Gospel of Matthew, he wrote that the greed for power is worse than the greed for money. He also said young officers should not be made to believe that careers are built by helping powerful people in illegal acts. Merit, he said, should be the only path to higher posts.
He also took a swipe at farewell ceremonies. According to him, arrogance is often presented as administrative firmness and corruption as efficiency. He said the next generation should know the difference between right and wrong. Fear should not be mistaken for respect. Silence should not be seen as consent. He also wrote that not getting caught does not make a person innocent.
Prasanth was suspended in November 2024 after making allegations against the then Chief Secretary Jayathilak. His suspension was later extended as he continued to make social media posts against senior officers. The Kerala government revoked his suspension and reinstated him earlier this month.
