The Union Government has assigned additional charge of the posts of Secretary, National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC), and Secretary, National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC), to senior IAS officer Sudhansh Pant (IAS:1991:RJ), Secretary, Department of Social Justice & Empowerment.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (September 1, 2026), the Competent Authority has approved the assignment of additional charge of both posts to Pant with immediate effect and until the appointment of regular incumbents or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The additional-charge arrangements were made after Gudey Srinivas (IAS:1990:OR), Secretary, NCSC, and Meeta R. Lochan (IAS:1990:MH), Secretary, NCBC, retired on August 31, 2026.
