Govind Jaiswal likely to be appointed Secretary to J&K Lieutenant Governor

Govind Jaiswal may be appointed Secretary to J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha following his repatriation and transfer to the J&K segment.

Srinagar: Senior IAS officer Govind Jaiswal (IAS:2007:AGMUT) is likely to be appointed Secretary to Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, according to sources.

Sources indicated that Jaiswal’s premature repatriation from central deputation and his transfer to the Jammu and Kashmir segment of the AGMUT cadre on October 9, 2026, were undertaken for a specific purpose. His possible appointment in the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat is being seen in the context of a vacancy in the office.

Notably, Mandeep K Bhandari (IAS:2001:AGMUT), who was serving as Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor, was appointed Chairman of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on September 25, 2026, leaving the post vacant.
