Senior IAS officer Pankaj Yadav (IAS:2001:HY), currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Department of Rural Development, has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre Haryana.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday (May 6, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Rural Development to repatriate him to his parent cadre on the request of the Haryana government with the imposition of extended cooling-off condition.
Pankaj Yadav has been serving in the Department of Rural Development since June 2024, when he was laterally shifted as Joint Secretary from the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare on the same rank.
He had originally joined central deputation in the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare as Joint Secretary for a five-year tenure.
On March 2, 2026, he was empanelled as Additional Secretary along with 27 IAS officers of various batches. Subsequently, on March 31, 2026, he was granted in-situ upgradation as Additional Secretary in the Department of Rural Development.
His five-year central deputation tenure was scheduled to end on October 30, 2027. However, he is being repatriated prematurely at the request of the Haryana government.
