IAS officer Armstrong Pame repatriated to Manipur cadre before tenure end with extended cooling-off condition, as approved by ACC.

IAS officer Armstrong Pame (IAS:2009:MN), currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Higher Education, has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre Manipur.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (April 4, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved his repatriation with the imposition of an extended cooling-off condition.

His five-year central deputation tenure was scheduled to end on April 17, 2027. However, he is being repatriated nearly a year in advance.

Pame had initially joined central deputation in April 2022 as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting for a period of four years. Later, on September 7, 2024, he was laterally shifted to the Department of School Education and Literacy as Director for a tenure up to April 17, 2027.

In February 2025, he was empanelled as Joint Secretary and was subsequently appointed as Joint Secretary in the Department of Higher Education on March 21, 2025.
