The Uttar Pradesh government has promoted senior IPS officer LV Antony Dev Kumar (IPS:1994:UP) to the rank of Director General of Police (DGP) in (Level-16 in the pay matrix). The Home Department issued the order in this regard on Friday.
Dev Kumar is currently serving as Additional Director General (ADG), Rules and Manual.
The promotion comes in the wake of vacancies created at the DG level following the retirement of three senior officers—Sandeep Salunke (IPS:1990:UP), MK Bansal (IPS:1990:UP), and Dipesh Juneja (IPS:1992:UP)—in February 2026.
To fill these vacancies, officers from the 1994 batch are being elevated. Being the senior-most officer of the batch, Dev Kumar was first in line for promotion to the DG rank.
Two other officers from the same batch—Prakash D (IPS:1994:UP), currently serving as ADG, Railways, and Jai Narayan Singh (IPS:1994:UP), ADG, Power Corporation—are also expected to be promoted to the DG rank shortly.
