Takhat Singh Ranawat (IFoS:2007:KN) has been appointed as Private Secretary (PS) to HD Kumaraswamy, Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (May 19, 2026), the competent authority has approved his appointment in the Ministry of Heavy Industries with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post.
He will hold the post up to November 24, 2026, i.e. for the balance period of his five-year tenure as Private Secretary, or on a co-terminus basis with the Minister, or until he ceases to function as PS to the Minister, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Prior to this appointment, Ranawat was serving as Private Secretary to HD Kumaraswamy in the Ministry of Steel. He has been serving as PS to Kumaraswamy since June 2024.
Notably, Ranawat came on central deputation when he was appointed as Private Secretary to Shobha Karandlaje, Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, on November 24, 2021, for a period of five years.
