The Supreme Court Collegium has approved the appointment of 19 persons as Judges of the Madras High Court. The decision was taken in the Collegium meeting held on May 18, 2026. The approved names include both judicial officers and advocates. The recommendations were based on proposals sent on different dates in November and December 2025.
From the judicial side, the Collegium has cleared the names of Dr P Murugan, MD Sumathi, S Alli, C Thirumagal Chandrasekar, Dharmalingam Lingeswaran and Karthikeyan Balathandayutham. It has also approved the names of Shanmugam Karthikeyan, Baluchamy Murugesan and N Gunasekaran.
Among advocates, the Collegium has approved the names of Natarajan Ramesh, GK Muthukumaar, Ramakrishnan Rajesh Vivekananthan, Sankaranarayanan Raveekumar, Nagarajan Dilip Kumar and Ellappan Manoharan.
The other advocates cleared are Krishnaswamy Govindarajan, Rajnish Pathiyil, K Appadurai alias Kandavel Appadurai and Ramasamy Anitha.
The appointments will take effect after the Centre issues the formal notification.
