MP top cop pulls up senior colleagues for absence from office, long lunch breaks

The Madhya Pradesh DGP Vivek Johri (IPS:1984:MP) has called out 29 senior-most officers posted at the police headquarters in Bhopal, for their absence from office, or unduly long lunch breaks.

The officers called out are in ranks of Special DG, Additional DG, IG and heads of various departments. Normally, about 40 such officers are posted in the PHQ.

In an office order dated June 6, the DGP said that he was not naming the officers, though he was aware of their names.

The DGP’s note mentions that three officers have been generally found to be absent from office. Another 12 officers remained absent from office post-lunch and 14 officers extended their lunch time, though it is only between 2.00pm and 2.30pm.

Johri further said in his note, that the officers are expected to be in the office for the whole day, give due importance to their official work and also guide subordinate officers and employees.
