Modi govt effects major bureaucratic reshuffle at Secretary level

The Modi government on Wednesday cleared the appointment and reshuffle of Secretary level posts in various departments and ministries.

The name of the officers and their postings are as follows :

1. Nagendra Nath Sinha (IAS:1987:JH), Secretary, Department of Rural Development, Ministry of Rural Development has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty, Ministry of Steel w,e.f. 01.12.2022. The officer will take over as Secretary, Ministry of Steel vice Sanjay Kumar Singh (IAS:1987:MP) upon his superannuation on 31.12.2022.
2. Aramane Giridhar (IAS:1988:AP), Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty, Department of Defence. The officer will take over as Secretary, Department of Defence in place of Ajay Kumar (IAS:1985:KL) upon his superannuation on 31.10.2022.
3. Vivek Joshi (IAS:1989:HY), Registrar General of India and Census Commissioner, Ministry of Home Affairs has been appointed as Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance in place of Sanjay Malhotra (IAS:1990:RJ) upon his appointment as Officer on Special Duty, Department of Revenue.
4. Amrit LaI Meena (IAS:1989:BH), Special Secretary (Logistics), Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce & Industry has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty, Ministry of Coal. The officer will take over as Secretary, Ministry of Coal vice Anil Kumar Jain (IAS:1986:MP) upon his superannuation on 31.10.2022.
5. Sanjay Malhotra (IAS:1990:RJ), Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance as Officer on Special Duty, Department of Revenue. The officer will take over as Secretary, Department of Revenue vice Tarun Bajaj (IAS:1988:HY) upon his superannuation on 30.11.2022.
6. Bhupinder Singh Bhalla (IAS:1990:AGMUT) has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. The officer will take over as Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy vice Indu Shekhar Chaturvedi (IAS:1987:JH) upon his superannuation on 31.10.2022. Presently, he is serving in the cadre.
7. Sanjay Kumar (IAS:1990:BH), Secretary, Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty, Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education. The officer will take over as Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy vice Ms. Anita Karwal (IAS:1988:GJ) upon her superannuation on 30.11.2022.
8. Sanjeev Chopra (IAS:1990:OR) has been appointed as Secretary, Department of Food and Public Distribution, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution vice Sudhanshu Pandey (IAS:1987:AGMUT) upon his superannuation on 31.10.2022. Presently, he is serving in the cadre.
9. Ms. Meeta R. Lochan (IAS:1990:MH), Member Secretary, National Commission for Women, Ministry of Women and Child Development has been appointed as Secretary, Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports vice Sanjay Kumar (IAS:1990:BH) upon his appointment as Officer on Special Duty, Department of School Education & Literacy.
10. Ms. Alka Upadhyaya (IAS:1990:MP), Chairperson, National Highways Authority of India, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has been appointed as Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways vice Aramane Giridhar (IAS:1988:AP) upon his appointment as Officer on Special Duty, Department of Defence.
11. Manoj Govil (IAS:1991:MP) has been appointed as Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Presently, he is serving in the cadre.
12. Shailesh Kumar Singh (IAS:1991:JH), Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty, Department of Rural Development, Ministry of Rural Development. The officer will take over as Secretary, Department of Rural Development, Ministry of Rural Development vice Nagendra Nath Sinha (IAS:1987:JH) upon his appointment as Officer on Special Duty, Ministry of Steel w.e.f. 01.12.2022.
13. Sudhansh Pant (IAS:1991:RJ), presently in the Cadre, has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways w.e.f. 01.12.2022. The officer will take over as Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways vice Sanjeev Ranjan (IAS:1985:TR) upon his superannuation on 31 .01 .2023.
14. Kamran Rizvi (IAS:1991:UP), Additional Secretary, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty, Ministry of Heavy Industries. The officer will take over as Secretary, Ministry of Heavy industries vice Arun Goel (IAS:1985:PB) upon his superannuation on 31.12.2022.
15. Ms. Rachna Shah (IAS:1991:KL), Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty, Ministry of Textiles. The officer will take over as Secretary, Ministry of Textiles vice Upendra Prasad Singh (IAS:1985:OR) upon his superannuation on 31.10.2022.
16. Mritunjay Kumar Narayan (IAS:1995:UP), Additional Secretary, Department of Home, Ministry of Home Affairs has been appointed as Registrar General of India and Census Commissioner, Ministry of Home Affairs in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary vice
    Vivek Joshi (IAS:1989:HY) upon his appointment as Secretary, Department of Financial Services.

Further, the ACC also approved in-situ upgradation of eight IAS officers to the level of Secretary and Special Secretary (GoI), in their respective ministries/departments presently serving in the rank of Additional Secretary and Special Secretary.

3. G Asok Kumar (IAS:1991:TG), Director General, National Mission for Clean Ganga, Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti in the rank and pay of Secretary to the Government of India.
4. S Gopalakrishnan (IAS:1991:TN), Special Secretary, Department of Health & Family Welfare.
5. Sumita Dawra (IAS:1991:AP), Special Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
