Suhel Ajaz Khan appointed as Ambassador of India to Saudi Arabia

Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan (IFS:1997) has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Presently, he is serving as Ambassador of India to the Republic of Lebanon and is expected to take up the assignment shortly.

Punjab: Satya Gopal appointed as Chairperson of RERA

The Punjab government Thursday (22.12.2022) appointed former Additional Chief Secretary of Delhi Satya Gopal (IAS:1988:AGMUT) as Chairman of the coveted Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA). He will have a tenure of five years or till attaining the age of sixty-five years i.e. July 2027.

The fact that he became ACS to Delhi Chief Minister seven months before retiring from IAS as well as taking on the additional posts of ACS (Power) and ACS (Environment & Forests) in the Delhi Government is worth a mention. As Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh, he had extensive experience managing the state administration.

The Punjab government also appointed a retired IRS officer Rakesh Goyal as Member of RERA.

Raj Kumar Dubey selected as Director (HR), BPCL

Raj Kumar Dubey has been selected for the post of Director (Human Resources), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (BPCL) at a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) meeting held on December 22, 2022. Presently, he is working as Executive Director, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL).

He will be appointed to the post of Director (Human Resources) receiving vigilance clearances and an approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.

Arun Kanti Bagchi appointed as Director (Project), RINL

Arun Kanti Bagchi, Chief General Manager (CGM), MECON Limited has been appointed as Director (Project), Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL). According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (22.12.2022), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Steel to appoint Mr. Bagchi to the post from the date of his assumption of charge of the post till the date of his superannuation i.e. 31.08.2026 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

A Madhavarao appointed as Director (Technical), Bharat Dynamics Limited

A Madhavarao has been appointed as Director (Technical), Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL). According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (22.12.2022), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Department of Defence Production to appoint Mr Madhavarao to the post from the date of his assumption of charge of the post till the date of his superannuation i.e. 30.04.2026 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Presently, he is serving as Executive Director, Bharat Dynamics Limited.

NHSRCL Signs Agreement for the Construction of Sabarmati Rolling Stock Workshop and Depot for Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor

National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited signed an agreement today with a consortium led by M/s Sojitz Corporation, Japan and Larsen &Toubro (L&T) for design and construction of Sabarmati Depot consisting of Workshop, Inspection Sheds, various buildings, Maintenance Facilities, and associated works in the state of Gujarat for Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR D-2 Package).

The contract agreement ceremony was attended by Shri Rajendra Prasad, Managing Director/NHSRCL, Shri Vijay Kumar, Director, Rolling Stock along with other Directors, officials from the Embassy of Japan, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Govt of Japan, JICC and JICA.

The design of the facility is based on Shinkansen maintenance facilities at Sendai and Kanazawa in Japan. Around 250 types of more than 800 numbers of specialised machineries required to inspect and maintain the rolling stock will be procured from Japan for this depot, including checking for vibrations, temperature, noise which are critical for high speed running and will ensure passenger comfort. The depot will have all safety features to ensure safe and reliable maintenance of high-speed trainsets.

To provide a safe and heathy work environment, the depot will have latest architectural features like proper ventilation, noise & dust suppression, safety features, facility of rain water harvesting, natural lighting in addition to LED based artificial lighting systems and provision to install solar panels on the roof of sheds and buildings in future.

The facility will be equipped with various modern systems like building management system, IT and data network system, fire detection and alarm system, access control system etc.

The Sabarmati workshop and depot will be optimally designed facility including the buildings and sheds. The preparatory works for the construction of the facility are already in progress under another package.

Other two depots will be constructed at Surat (Gujarat) and Thane (Maharashtra).

Action against 2,724 corrupt officials in 2021 : MoS Jitendra Singh

In a written reply to the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, the Personnel Ministry said that action has been taken against 2,724 corrupt officials, including 248 cases of prosecution sanction in the year 2021.

According to information provided by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), the respective competent authority took a final decision in 2,724 cases, out of which 55 cases were deviated from the CVC’s advice, Parliament was informed.

The Ministry/Department where the respective competent authority, including those in the organizations under them, took the final decision in the aforementioned 55 cases are the Union Ministries of Home, Railways, Civil Aviation, Road Transport & Highways, Ports, Shipping, & Waterways, Textiles, Coal, Housing and Urban Affairs, and Power, the Departments of Financial Services, Fertilisers, Atomic Energy, Commerce, Youth Affairs, and Higher Education, and the government of NCT of Delhi, he said.
