Sarbeswar Majhi re-designated as Director in D/o Animal Husbandry and Dairying

The post of Sarbeswar Majhi (ISS:2009) as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying has been re-designated as Director. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (07.02.2023), the competent authority has approved the re-designation Mr. Majhi as Director for a period upto 13.12.2024.

West Bengal: Three IPS officers shifted

The West Bengal government on Sunday (05.02.2023) issued transfer and posting orders for three IPS officers.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows:

  1. Nagendra Nath Tripathi (IPS:2009:WB), SP, Birbhum has been transferred and posted as OSD, West Bengal Police Directorate.
  2. Bhaskar Mukherjee (IPS:2009:WB), SP, Sunderban has been transferred and posted as SP, Birbhum.
  3. Koteswara Rao Nalavath (IPS:2011:WB), SP (Hqrs), ACB has been transferred and posted as SP, Suderban.

MHA transfers seven AGMUT cadre IAS officers

The Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday (06.02.2023) transferred seven IAS officers of Joint AGMUT cadres with immediate effect.

They are;

  1. Arun T (IAS:2013): From Puducherry to DNH&DD.
  2. Aman Gupta (IAS:2013): From Delhi to Andaman & Nicobar.
  3. Suneel Anchipaka (IAS:2014): From Andaman & Nicobar to Goa.
  4. Ira Singhal (IAS:2014): From Delhi to Arunachal Pradesh.
  5. Ankita Anand (IAS:2015):From DNH&DD to Delhi.
  6. Mekala Chaitanya Prasad (IAS:2015): From DNH&DD to Delhi.
  7. Nikhil U Dessai (IAS:2016): From Goa to DNH&DD.

Gujarat: Vipul Mittra appointed Chairman of GNFC

Senior IAS officer Vipul Mittra (IAS:1986:GJ) has been appointed as Chairman of Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilisers Company (GNFC) as his junior Raj Kumar (IAS:1987:GJ) has been made Chief Secretary. Mittra, being senior to Raj Kumar (IAS:1987:GJ), does not want to serve under him as Additional Chief Secretary, so he has been transferred as Chairman of GNFC.

CAT directs Punjab government to release retiral benefits to ex-IAS officer Sukhjit Singh Bains

The Chandigarh Bench of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has ordered the Punjab Government to release retired IAS officer Sukhjit Singh Bains’ retiral benefits within two months.

If a chargesheet has not been filed against a retired person in respect of an FIR registered during his service time, it cannot be construed that criminal proceedings are pending against him. Therefore, the CAT Bench stated that respondents cannot withhold retiral benefits solely on the basis of registration of an FIR.

A petition was filed by Bains under Section 19 of the Administrative Tribunals Act, 1985, challenging the order dated May 27, 2021, in which his Death-cum-Retirement Gratuity (DCRG)/Regular Pension/Leave Encashment had been withheld due to the pendency of a case related with the FIR registered on February 20, 2018.

In his petition, he requested that respondents be directed to release retiral benefits, along with consequential benefits, with interest of 18 percent.

Three Additional Judges appointed to Madras HC

The Union government on Monday (06.02.2022) notified the appointment of three Advocates as Additional Judges of theMadras High Court. They have been appointed for a period of two years with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.

Their names are ;

  1. Lekshmana Chandra Victoria Gowri
  2. Pillaipakkam Bahukutumbi Balaji
  3. Kandhasami Kulandaivelu Ramakrishnan

The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the elevation of five Advocates to the high court bench on January 17. However, the government withheld the appointment of Advocates Venkatachari Lakshminarayanan and Ramaswamy Neelakandan.

Two Additional Judges appointed to Karnataka HC

The Union government on Monday (06.02.2022) notified the appointment of two Advocates as Additional Judges of the Karnataka High Court. They have been appointed for a period of two years with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.

Their names are ;

  1. Vijaykumar Adagouda Patil
  2. Rajesh Rai Kallangalla

The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the elevation of three Advocates to the high court bench on January 17. However, the government withheld the appointment of Advocate Tajali Moulasab Nadaf.

Six Additional Judges appointed to Allahabad HC

The Union government on Monday (06.02.2022) notified the appointment of six Advocates as Additional Judges of the Allahabad High Court. They have been appointed for a period of two years with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.

Their names are ;

  1. Syed Qamar Hasan Rizvi
  2. Manish Kumar Nigam
  3. Anish Kumar Gupta
  4. Nand Prabha Shukla
  5. Kshitij Shailendra
  6. Vinod Diwakar

The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the elevation of nine Advocates to the high court bench on January 17. The government, however, has not notified the appointment of three Advocates — Prashant Kumar, Manjive Shukla and Arun Kumar Singh Deshwal.

Centre appoints 3 new acting Chief Justice of Manipur, Patna and Rajasthan High Courts

Three judges of the Rajasthan, Patna, and Manipur High Courts were appointed as acting Chief Justices of these high courts by the President of India on Saturday after the five judges were elevated to the Apex Court.

While Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava will be the Acting Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court, Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh will be the Acting Chief Justice of Patna High Court and Justice M V Muralidaran will take charge as the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur.

The Supreme Court of India on Saturday also cleared the appointments of five new Judges. In December, the Supreme Court collegium recommended their elevation from the High Courts to the Apex Court. Supreme Court’s working strength increased to 32 as a result of the new appointments.

Tamil Nadu: Five IPS officers shifted

The Tamil Nadu government on Friday transferred five Indian Police Service (IPS) officers. Those transferred include officers at the Superintendent of Police (SP) and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) level.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows :

  1. DV Kiran Shruthi (IPS:2018:TN), DCP of Cyber Crime Cell, Chennai has been posted as SP, Ranipet.
  2. Deepa Sathyan (IPS:2015:TN), SP of Ranipet has been posted as SP, State Police Master Control Room, Chennai.
  3. S Sakthi Ganesan (IPS:2013:TN), SP of Cuddalore has been posted as SP, Idol Wing, Chennai.
  4. R Rajaram (IPS:2009:TN), DC of Kolathur, Chennai has been posted as SP of Cuddalore.
  5. Ravali Priya Gandhapuneni (IPS:2014:TN) has been posted as SP, Tamil Nadu Uniformed Service Recruitment Board.
