Madhya Pradesh refuses permission to 4 IAS to go on deputation, citing shortage of officers

Perhaps taking a cue from the Rajasthan govt, the Madhya Pradesh govt has now refused to allow four of its IAS officers to go on central deputation, citing a shortage of officers.

Central deputation of 4 MP IAS denied

Perhaps taking a cue from the Rajasthan government, the Madhya Pradesh government has now refused to allow four of its IAS officers to go on central deputation. Out of these four officers, Harshika Singh and Rohit Singh belong to the 2012 batch, while Abhijeet Agarwal and Anurag Chaudhary are from the 2010 batch.

The state government has cited the shortage of officers in the state as the main reason for this refusal. These officers have been asked to serve in the state itself.

The four officers, who have sought permission for central deputation, are currently holding important responsibilities in the state.

Harshika Singh is currently Director, Budget, in the Department of Finance; Rohit Singh is serving as Managing Director of the Madhya Pradesh Textbook Corporation; Abhijit Agarwal is Managing Director of the Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Marketing Federation (Markfed); and Anurag Chaudhary is posted as MD of the Madhya Pradesh Fisheries Federation.

The state has been facing huge vacancies of cadre posts due to a shortage of officers. Though the state has a total of 459 sanctioned posts of IAS officers, 68 of these posts are presently vacant. In such a situation, the state govt is against sending the officers on central deputation. Contrary to it, the state govt plans to ensure that its officers already on deputation at the Centre return to the state after completing their term next year.

As per sources, the officers’ proposals seeking permission for central deputation will be entertained only after that.
