Amandeep Garg will continue to hold additional charge as CPCB Chairman

New Delhi: Senior IAS officer Amandeep Garg (IAS:1999:HP), Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, has been given extension in the additional charge of Chairman of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday (October 21, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the continuation of his additional charge beyond October 8, 2026, until the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Garg has been holding the additional charge of CPCB Chairman since January 2025.
