New Delhi: Punjab cadre Indian Forest Service officer Sunil Kumar (IFoS:1995:PB), serving as Additional Secretary in the Department of Science and Technology, has been granted an extension in his central deputation tenure until June 21, 2027.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday (October 21, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension of his tenure up to June 21, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier, by continuing the temporary upgradation of the post.
Notably, Sunil Kumar has been serving in the Department of Science and Technology since June 21, 2020, when he assumed charge as Joint Secretary for a five-year tenure. In January 2024, he was granted in-situ upgradation to the post of Additional Secretary.
