Veenu Bansal IPS Education, IPS Batch and Service

Veenu Bansal was born on December 12, 1978. He is 47 years old as of September 2026. He holds a B.Tech degree. He entered the Indian Police Service through direct recruitment and was allotted the AGMUT cadre, which covers Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territories.

Veenu Bansal as DCP Security, Delhi Police

Bansal later moved into senior positions in the Delhi Police. He was posted as DCP, Security, Delhi Police, with the posting taking effect from February 5, 2016. The IPS Officer Civil List records him in the post at the time of his elevation in the Delhi Police hierarchy.

The Security unit of the Delhi Police is responsible for protection-related duties and security arrangements in the national capital.

Promotion to DIG Grade

The Ministry of Home Affairs revised Bansal’s promotion to the DIGP Grade, Level 13A, with effect from January 1, 2018, on a notional basis.

The order was issued on December 30, 2020, and specifically concerned Veenu Bansal, IPS (AGMUT:2004).

Additional Commissioner of Police in Delhi

Bansal subsequently served in several senior Delhi Police assignments. In 2021, he was posted as Additional Commissioner of Police, CPCR (Central Police Control Room). He was also given additional responsibility for the Northern Range.

A Delhi Police order dated October 8, 2021 records his earlier position as Additional CP/CPCR and his responsibilities in the Northern Range.

A subsequent Delhi Police reshuffle in September 2021 had also moved him from Additional CP/Traffic to Additional CP/CPCR.

IGP, Intelligence, Mizoram

Veenu Bansal was later moved from Delhi to Mizoram. He joined the Government of Mizoram on March 8, 2022, and took charge as IGP (Intelligence) on March 25, 2022.

The Mizoram government’s IPS list records his date of joining the state government as March 8, 2022, and the date of joining his present posting at that time as March 25, 2022.

The MHA IPS Civil List also records him as IGP, Intelligence, Mizoram, from January 1, 2022, reflecting his rank/posting in the IPS service record.

He continued as IGP (Intelligence) in Mizoram through 2023 and into 2024. The Mizoram government’s April 2024 list records him in the post and gives December 31, 2038 as his date of retirement.

Return to Delhi Police

In 2024, Bansal returned to the Delhi Police. The Delhi government issued a major IPS reshuffle order in 2024, under which Bansal was posted as Joint Commissioner of Police, Security. The order placed him in the senior Joint CP-level position with immediate effect.

The move was part of a larger reshuffle of senior Delhi Police officers.

Joint CP, Rashtrapati Bhawan

Bansal subsequently served as Joint Commissioner of Police, Rashtrapati Bhawan. The MHA’s IPS Civil List records his appointment to Joint CP/R.P. Bhawan with effect from November 8, 2024.

The assignment placed him in charge of policing and security responsibilities connected with the Rashtrapati Bhawan area in New Delhi.

The latest development in Bansal’s service career came in August 2026. An order signed on August 3, 2026 attached Veenu Bansal, who was then serving as Joint Commissioner of Police, Rashtrapati Bhawan, to Delhi Police Headquarters with immediate effect.

Veenu Bansal Posted as Joint CP, SPUWAC & SPUNER

The latest change in Veenu Bansal’s posting came in August 2026, when the Delhi Police ordered a major reshuffle of senior officers.

In an order issued on August 18, 2026, Bansal, who was serving as Joint CP, attached to Delhi Police Headquarters, was transferred and posted as Joint Commissioner of Police, SPUWAC & SPUNER, with immediate effect. The reshuffle involved 43 officers, including 41 IPS officers.

Following the change, Atmaram Vasudeo Deshpande, IPS (2006) was appointed as Joint CP, Rashtrapati Bhawan, replacing Bansal. Deshpande was earlier serving as Joint CP, Operations (PCR & Communication), with additional charge of Licensing.
