New Delhi: Senior IAS officer Gyanesh Bharti (IAS:1998:AGMUT), currently serving as Deputy Election Commissioner, has been repatriated to his parent cadre.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (August 10, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved his repatriation to the parent cadre on the request of the Ministry of Home Affairs, with imposition of extended cooling-off.
Bharti has been serving as Deputy Election Commissioner since August 2025. Prior to this, he served as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
His return to the AGMUT cadre assumes significance, with attention now focused on his next assignment. Known for his strong administrative approach and task-oriented style, Bharti is expected to be considered for a significant responsibility in the cadre.
His next posting is likely to be closely watched in bureaucratic circles.
