Bhubaneswar: Senior 1994-batch IPS officers Sanjeeb Panda and Yeshwant Kumar Jethwa have been promoted to the Director General of Police (DGP) grade in Odisha.
The promotion proposal for the two officers was approved by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday, August 10, 2026.
Both officers are among the senior-most officers of the Odisha cadre. According to the Odisha Government’s IPS gradation list, Panda is currently serving as ADG, Anti-Naxal Operation, while Jethwa is serving as Director, Vigilance, Odisha.
Sanjeeb Panda (IPS:1994:OR) holds a B.Tech in Electronics & Telecommunication from IIT Madras and an M.Tech in Integrated Electronics & Circuits from IIT Delhi. Yeshwant Kumar Jethwa (IPS:1994:OR) holds a B.E. in Electronics Engineering and postgraduate qualifications in Police Management and Human Rights.
The elevation assumes significance as Odisha is set for a change at the top of its police hierarchy. Incumbent DGP YB Khurania is scheduled to retire on August 16, 2026, and the latest promotions have added to speculation over the appointment of his successor.
