New Delhi: Krishna Kumar Tiwari (ISS:2011) has been granted a two-year extension in his central deputation tenure as Director in the Election Commission of India (ECI).
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (July 13, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Election Commission of India to extend his deputation tenure for two years beyond September 30, 2026, i.e. up to September 30, 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Notably, Tiwari has been serving in the Election Commission of India since September 30, 2021. He was initially appointed at the Deputy Secretary level for a period of four years.
In January 2025, he was re-designated as Director, and his tenure as Director in the ECI was extended up to September 30, 2026. With the latest order, his deputation tenure has now been extended for a further two years, till September 30, 2028.
