The Centre has extended the central deputation tenure of Amit Shukla (IFoS:1999:TR) as Joint Secretary in the Department of Rural Development by one year.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday (July 1, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal to extend his deputation tenure for a period of one year beyond June 1, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Shukla joined the Central Government on deputation as Director in the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation on June 1, 2021, for a period of five years.
In July 2022, he was empanelled for holding Joint Secretary-level posts in the Government of India and was subsequently transferred and appointed to his current position in the Department of Rural Development.
