The Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday (09.01.2025) issued transfer orders of senior IPS officer Vijay Kumar (IPS:1997:AGMUT) to Delhi segment of the AGMUT cadre. Interestingly, the order was signed on January 2, prior to the announcement of the Delhi Assembly elections. Kumar is currently serving as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Law & Order.
An official notification states that, ” With the approval of the relevant authority, Vijay Kumar, an IPS officer of the 1997 batch, has been reassigned from Jammu and Kashmir to the Delhi segment of the AGMUT cadre, effective immediately and until further orders.”
Known for his extensive focus on counter-terrorism operations during his tenure as IG and ADGP in Kashmir, Kumar has primarily served in conflict-prone regions such as Pulwama, Awantipora, Kulgam, and Anantnag.
