13 IPS officers transferred in Tamil Nadu; AG Babu appointed Salem City Police Commissioner

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday (September 29, 2026) ordered the transfer and posting of 13 IPS officers across the state. Notably, AG Babu (IPS:2004:TN), Inspector General of Police/Additional Commissioner of Police, Headquarters, Greater Chennai Police, has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police, Salem City. He succeeds K Joshi Nirmal Kumar (IPS:2002:TN), who has been transferred and posted as IGP, Modernisation, in the office of the DGP and Head of Police Force, Chennai.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows;

1. K Joshi Nirmal Kumar (IPS:2002:TN), Commissioner of Police, Salem City, has been transferred and posted as Inspector General of Police, Modernisation, Office of the Director General of Police and Head of Police Force, Chennai.
2. AG Babu (IPS:2004:TN), Inspector General of Police/Additional Commissioner of Police, Hqrs, Greater Chennai Police, Chennai, has been transferred and posted as Commissioner of Police, Salem City.
3. Dr Santosh Hadimani (IPS:2011:TN), Deputy Inspector General of Police, Salen Range, Salem, has been transferred and posted as Deputy Inspector General of Police/ Joint Commissioner of Police, Intelligence Section, Greater Chennai Police, Chennai.
4. N Devarani (IPS:2010:TN), Deputy Inspector General of Police/Deputy Director, Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Chennai, has been transferred and posted as Deputy Inspector General of Police, Salen Range, Salem.
5. V Badri Narayanan (IPS:2015:TN), Superintendent of Police, Anti-Terrorism Squad, Coimbatore, has been transferred and posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Adyar, Greater Chennai Police, Chennai.
6. AC Karthikeyan (IPS), Superintendent of Police, now on compulsory wait, has been posted as Superintendent of Police, Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board, Chennai.
7. N Mathivanan (IPS), Superintendent of Police, NIB CID, Chennai, has been transferred and posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police, St. Thomas Mount, Greater Chennai Police.
8. VR Srinivasan (IPS), Deputy Commissioner of Police, St. Thomas Mount, Greater Chennai Police, Chennai, has been transferred and posted as Superintendent of Police, NIB CID, Chennai.
9. K Stalin (IPS), Superintendent of Police, Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board, Chennai, has been transferred and posted as Superintendent of Police, South Zone, CB CID, Chennai.
10. P Sundaravadivel (IPS), Deputy Commissioner of Police, Security, Greater Chennai Police, Chennai, has been transferred and posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Welfare & Estate, Greater Chennai Police, Chennai.
11. Dr V Baskaran (IPS), Deputy Commissioner of Police, Washermenpet, Greater Chennai Police, Chennai, has been transferred and posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Salem North, Salem.
12. Ankit Singh (IPS:2022:TN), Deputy Commissioner of Police, Salem North, Salem, has been transferred and posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Washermenpet, Greater Chennai Police, Chennai.
13. Dr R Stalin (IPS:2020:TN), Superintendent of Police, now on compulsory wait, has been transferred and posted as Superintendent of Police, Economic Offences Wing, North Zone, Chennai.
