Uttarakhand: Deepam Seth set to become next DGP

Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Friday (23.11.2024) prematurely repatriated him to his parent cadre Uttarakhand at the request of state government. Prior to this, Seth was serving as Additional Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

Senior IPS officer Deepam Seth (IPS:1995:UK) is set to become the next Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttarakhand. Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Saturday (23.11.2024) prematurely repatriated him to his parent cadre Uttarakhand at the request of state government. Prior to this, Seth was serving as Additional Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

Seth will replace acting DGP Abhinav Kumar (IPS:1996:UK), who is holding the charge since December 1, 2023, following the retirement of regular DGP Ashok Kumar (IPS:1989:UD) on November 30, 2023.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has recently sent a panel of three names to the state government which for the appointment of a regular DGP. The UPSC’s panel includes Deepam Seth (IPS:1995:UK), Dr P V K Prasad (IPS:1995:UK) and Amit Sinha (IPS:1997:UK).
