Three Odisha cadre IPS officers have recently proceeded on central deputation, and the list appears to be growing, as three more are expected to follow suit soon. These officers are Asheet Panigrahi (IPS:1997:OR), Amitabh Thakur (IPS:1997:OR), and Rajesh Kumar (IPS:1998:OR).

According to official sources, the Ministry of Home Affairs sought information on October 11 regarding the vigilance status of these officers for their potential appointments as Inspector General at the Centre. In response, the state government has confirmed that no criminal, HRPC-related, or vigilance cases or inquiries are pending against them.

Meanwhile, those who recently proceeded on central deputation received their posting orders on December 6. Dhirendra Sambhaji Kutey (IPS:1997:OD) was appointed as Inspector General of BSF, Ashish Kumar Singh (IPS:2004:OD) as Inspector General of ITBP, and G Satishkumar Ishwardas (IPS:2002:OD) as Deputy Inspector General of CRPF.

It is worth noting that both Dhirendra Sambhaji Kutey and Ashish Kumar Singh were removed from the positions in the Odisha Police ahead of the 2024 general elections. The BJP had lodged complaints with the Election Commission of India, alleging that the officers were favouring the Naveen Patnaik-led Biju Janata Dal (BJD) during the elections.
