New Delhi: Indian Information Service officer Rina Sonowal Kouli (IInfoS:1994), currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Higher Education, has been prematurely repatriated to her parent cadre.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday (July 31, 2026), the competent authority has approved the proposal of the Department of Higher Education to repatriate her to her parent cadre to enable her to avail the benefit of promotion in the cadre.
Notably, Rina Sonowal Kouli has been serving in the post since January 2023. She was appointed for a five-year tenure ending in January 2028. However, her deputation has been curtailed to enable her to avail the promotion benefit in her parent cadre.
