Uttar Pradesh cadre IPS officer Amit Pathak (IPS:2007:UP) has been appointed as Inspector General (IG) in the National Security Guard (NSG).
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (June 1, 2026), the competent authority approved his appointment to the post against an existing vacancy under the usual terms and conditions of central deputation.
Pathak is currently serving as Inspector General of Police, Devipatan Range in Uttar Pradesh.
The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has invited applications for the post of Director (Power) at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).
According to a vacancy notification issued on June 2, 2026, eligible candidates can submit their applications online through the PESB portal by 3 PM on June 22, 2026.

U Subba Rao (IRSME:1987) has been appointed as General Manager, Southern Railway, Chennai.
Gitika Pandey (IRAS:1990) has been appointed as General Manager, Eastern Railway, Kolkata.
Manish Agarwal (IRSME:1989) has been appointed as General Manager, Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai.
Nilmani (IRSE:1990) has been appointed as Additional Member (Planning), Railway Board, New Delhi.
The appointments have been made against ex-cadre posts for the panel year 2026.
Days after being appointed as Director General of Police (DGP) and Head of Police Force in Tamil Nadu, senior IPS officer Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal (IPS:1994:TN) has been repatriated from the Border Security Force (BSF) to his parent cadre.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (June 2, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs for repatriation of Aggarwal, who was serving as Special Director General in BSF, to Tamil Nadu cadre with immediate effect.
The move clears the way for Aggarwal to assume charge as DGP and Head of Police Force in Tamil Nadu.
The Tamil Nadu government had appointed Aggarwal to the top police post on May 29, 2026.
The central deputation tenure of Rajeev Singh Thakur (IAS:1995:RJ) as Adviser to NITI Aayog in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary has been extended by six months.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (June 2, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved extension of his deputation tenure for a period of six months beyond June 3, 2026, that is up to December 3, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Rajeev Singh Thakur has been serving in the position since February 2025, when he was transferred to NITI Aayog from the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
Before moving to NITI Aayog, he was serving as Additional Secretary in DPIIT.
The Central government on Tuesday (June 2, 2026) appointed Lokhande Prashant Sitaram (IAS:2001:AGMUT) as Chairperson and Varun Bhardwaj (Indian Information Service:2008) as Secretary of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), alongside the transfer of Chairman Rahul Singh (IAS:1996:BH) and premature repatriation of Secretary Himanshu Gupta (IAS:2012:AGMUT).
According to orders issued by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), Lokhande Prashant Sitaram, currently serving as Additional Secretary, Department of Home under the Ministry of Home Affairs, has been appointed as Chairperson, CBSE under the Ministry of Education.
He has been appointed in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary and replaces Rahul Singh (IAS:1996:BH), who has been transferred as Additional Secretary in the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare.
In a parallel development, Varun Bhardwaj (IinfoS:2008), currently serving as Director in the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education, has been appointed as Secretary (Director level), CBSE under the Department of School Education and Literacy.
Bhardwaj has been appointed on deputation basis under the Central Staffing Scheme on lateral shift basis in place of Himanshu Gupta (IAS:2012:AGMUT), who has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre, Ministry of Home Affairs.
According to the order, Bhardwaj will serve up to September 19, 2027, constituting his combined five-year tenure under the Central Staffing Scheme.
The appointments complete a simultaneous transition in CBSE’s top leadership amid scrutiny surrounding the board’s On-Screen Marking (OSM) system.
The Punjab government on Tuesday (June 2, 2026) ordered the transfer and posting of seven IAS officers with immediate effect in an administrative reshuffle affecting the health, local government, industries and education departments.
The names of officers and their postings are as follows;
Manjit Singh Brar (IAS:2007:PB), Administrative Secretary, Local Government, has been transferred and post as Secretary, Medical Education and Research.
Ghanshyam Thori (IAS:2010:PB), Secretary, Health and Family Welfare with additional charge of Mission Director, National Health Mission (NHM) and Secretary, Medical Education and Research, has been transferred as Administrative Secretary, Local Government.
Kulwant Singh (IAS:2012:PB), Director, Local Government, has been transferred and posted as Director, Higher Education.
Sakshi Sawhney (IAS:2014:PB), Chief Administrator, Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority (PUDA), has been placed at the disposal of the Department of Health and Family Welfare for posting as Mission Director, National Health Mission. She will continue to hold charge as Chief Administrator, PUDA.
Jaspreet Singh (IAS:2014:PB), Director, Industries and Commerce, has been transferred and posted as Director, Industries and Commerce with additional charge of Managing Director, Punjab Information and Communication Technology Corporation Limited (Punjab INFOTECH).
Harsuhinder Pal Singh Brar (IAS:2020:PB), Director, Higher Education with additional charge of Managing Director, Punjab INFOTECH, has been transferred and posted as Director, Local Government.
Rubinderjit Singh Brar (IAS:2020:PB), Additional Chief Executive Officer, Punjab Bureau of Investment Promotion with additional charge of Additional Secretary, NRI Affairs and Additional Secretary, Local Government, has been placed at the disposal of the Department of Industries and Commerce for posting as Managing Director, Punjab Small Industries Export Corporation with additional charge of Managing Director, Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation. Centre Transfers CBSE Chairman, Repatriates Secretary
The Central government on Tuesday (June 2, 2026) transferred CBSE Chairman Rahul Singh (IAS:1996:BH) and prematurely repatriated CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta (IAS:2012:AGMUT) amid controversy surrounding the board’s new On-Screen Marking (OSM) system.
According to official orders, Rahul Singh has been transferred and posted as Additional Secretary in the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare under the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare.
Meanwhile, Himanshu Gupta has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre, the Ministry of Home Affairs, with the condition of extended cooling-off. As per the order, he will become eligible for another Central deputation only after December 12, 2030.
The government has also constituted an inquiry committee to examine the procurement process of the OSM facility.
S Radha Chauhan, Chairperson of the Capacity Building Commission (CBC), has been appointed as the sole member of the committee. She has been authorised to seek assistance from officers of other departments, while secretarial support will be provided by CBC.
The committee has been directed to submit its report to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) within one month.
The development comes amid concerns over the functioning of CBSE’s digital evaluation and re-verification system.
On Tuesday, CBSE activated its re-verification portal for Class 12 students but later reported cyber threats and unusually high traffic on the platform. According to the board, the portal received nearly 15 lakh hits within two minutes and also recorded attempts at unauthorised access, which it attributed to malicious activity.
The board had introduced the On-Screen Marking system to improve transparency and streamline the marks verification and re-evaluation process.
Canara Bank on Monday announced that Brajesh Kumar Singh has assumed charge as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO), following a government notification issued on May 30, 2026.
Singh officially took over the top post on June 1, 2026 and will remain in office until April 30, 2029, the date of his superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
His appointment follows the recommendation of the Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) and approval of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). The position had fallen vacant after K Satyanarayana Raju completed his tenure on December 31, 2025.
Notably, FSIB had interviewed 17 candidates on December 22, 2025 before recommending Singh’s name for the position of Canara Bank MD & CEO.
Prior to this appointment, Singh was serving as Executive Director at Indian Bank, where he played a key role in business growth, governance strengthening, and digital and operational transformation initiatives.
He brings more than three decades of banking experience across corporate credit, retail banking, human resources, business development and strategic operations.
During his career, Singh also served as Chief General Manager (Human Resources) at Bank of Baroda and held various assignments including Credit Officer, Branch Head, Loan Factory Head, Regional Head and Zonal Head. He has additionally served as Convenor of a State Level Bankers’ Committee and gained overseas exposure through an assignment in Durban, South Africa.
An agriculture graduate from Allahabad Agriculture Institute, Singh holds an MBA in Finance, is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers and has completed an Executive Leadership Development Programme at IIM Bangalore.
