Former Punjab Chief Secretary (CS) Anurag Verma (IAS:1993:PB) failed to appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday. He had been issued summons to appear before its Jalandhar office in the Suntec City case.
The ED has now issued fresh summons asking him to appear for questioning on September 9.
This is the second time Verma, who is currently posted as Additional CS (Revenue), has skipped ED questioning. He had earlier failed to appear in response to an August 31 summons.
The ED is probing alleged irregularities in connection with real estate projects undertaken by Suntec City and Altus Space Builders Private Limited in Mohali. Verma’s role is under the ED’s scrutiny as he headed the Department of Housing and Urban Development that time.
