After being reported missing and subsequently traced to his hometown in Uttar Pradesh early this week, Karnataka IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar (IAS:2016:KN) underwent rigorous grilling by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Friday for his role in the alleged irregularities in the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) exam. Gangwar is currently posted as Director in the MSME department.
According to sources, the IAS officer was grilled for around nine hours by the CID’s investigating officer. A police source later said he responded to a notice served by the ED after raiding him earlier in the week.
Gangwar was serving as Controller of Examination in the KPSC from February 2024 to March 2026, during which the alleged irregularities took place.
It should be noted here that Gangwar’s premises in Delhi and Bareilly had been raided by the ED, which was linked to his reported disappearance on August 22.
